David Beckham, 43, has spoken candidly about his 19-year marriage to his wife Victoria, 44, during an interview with The Sunday Project.
Earlier this week, a teaser clip of the retired footballer describing his marriage as ‘hard work’ reportedly upset Victoria.
The full interview aired on Sunday and David said he and the former Spice Girl are committed to their marriage and they teach their four children about the importance of hard work in all areas of life.’You know your children, they want your time and they deserve your time, and we are hard working and we feel that is the right way to bring up our children. To prove and to show them that actually, you have to work really hard to be successful.’
The couple, who began dating in early 1997, share four children – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and seven year-old Harper. The father-of-four went on to reference the family’s recent British Vogue cover shoot and spoke highly of Victoria’s success as a mother and fashion designer.
‘You know, we’ve been married for a long time now and recently did a Vogue front cover, which was all about Victoria’s 10 years in fashion,’ he said.
‘The amount she’s achieved in such a short space of time… four beautiful young children, you know, we have a beautiful dog. But obviously in her business world, to be on the front cover of Vogue, er, was a huge thing.
