Iman was born in Mogadishu, Somalia on July 22, 1955. She was discovered in Kenya at university. She first modelled for Vogue in 1976 and became one of the most sought after models because of her deep skin tone and statuesque figure. This inspired Yves Saint Laurent to dedicate an entire collection named “The African Queen” to her.
Over the years, Iman has maintained her beauty and doesn’t seem to age. She also created her own line of make up products named after her “Iman” to cater to women of colour.
